Davao del Norte is flexing its role as Mindanao’s gateway to Southeast Asia by hosting the 2026 Malaysia Expo (MYExpo) Davao del Norte from October 16 to 18, 2026, at the DavNor Gymnasium in Barangay Mankilam, Tagum City.
Dailan Muhammad Ravi, General Manager of the MY Events International, said the expo will provide a venue for Malaysian companies to explore new business opportunities in the Davao Region.
He added the event is expected to attract more than 500 investors, government agencies, trade associations, chambers of commerce, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from both Malaysia and the Philippines.
The expo will prominently feature the Halal Food Bazaar, as it will also highlight thematic exhibitions, cultural performances, round table discussions and business networking opportunities, targeting sectors such as healthcare, tourism, and agriculture.
“With Malaysia's exports to the Philippines exceeding RM26 billion, the potential for deeper trade collaboration continues to grow,” Ravi said, during the coordination meeting yesterday, July 20, 2026, held at the DavNor Capitol’s PGO Conference Room.
Present were SM Anand Subramaniam, President of SMA EcoGreen Corporation, Engr. Josie Jean Rabanos, special consultant of Governor Edwin Jubahib, and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-XI Regional Director Arch. Sherrila Porza-Sawah, together with the representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, among other agencies.
The 2026 MYExpo Davao del Norte is an offshoot of the 3-day Royal Visit of His Highness Tengku Dato' Setia Putra Al-Haj bin Tengku Azman Shah Al-Haj, who is a member of the Selangor and Kelantan royal families in Malaysia.
The Malaysian prince was the guest of honor during the celebration of the 59th Araw ng Davao del Norte and the 7th State of the Province Address (SOPA) of the Gov. Jubahib last July 1, 2026.
He also stood as a principal witness during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Gov. Jubahib and SM Anand Subramaniam, President of SMA EcoGreen Corporation, for the establishment of a modern Energy-to-Waste Facility to be financed by Malaysian investors.
His Highness Tengku Putra sent a letter of appreciation and gratitude to Gov. Jubahib, dated July 13, 2026, acknowledging the “exceptional hospitality and gracious reception” extended to his delegation during the visit, which he said demonstrated the sincerity and goodwill of the Dabaonon people.
“Our visit afforded us a valuable opportunity to experience the cultural richness, remarkable development, and considerable potential of Davao del Norte. I was particularly impressed by the strong sense of unity among its people, the province’s progressive outlook, and the warmth and friendship extended to us throughout our stay. These qualities are a clear reflection of the committed and visionary leadership of Your Excellency and the Provincial Government,” the Malaysian prince said.
