DAVNOR KAAGAPAY MIAMBIT UG TABANG SA MGA GAGMAY’NG NEGOSYANTE

Ultimo mga gagmay’ng magpapatigayon nakasungkit ug tabang gikan sa proyektong DAVNOR KAAGAPAY, usa ka inisyatibo nga programa sa probinsyal nga panggamhanan sa Davao del Norte nga nagtinguha nga matabangan ang mga katawhan sa probinsya, ilabina gayud kadtong hilabihang naapektohan sa pandemya, pinaagi sa pagpang-apod-apod ug mga semilya sa nagkadaiyang matang sa mga utanon ug mga lagutmon aron kini ilang matanom sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka mga dapit, diin ang probinsyal nga panggamhanan ra usab ang manguna sa pagpalit sa ilang mga abot aron usab mabaligya kini sa katawhan sa probinsya sa mas baratong presyo.

DAVNOR REVISITS INVESTMENT AND INCENTIVES CODE OF 2014

The ever-changing global and domestic economic landscape and the emergence of the "new normal" setting has rendered some of the socio-political and economic measures impracticable, or worse, inoperable. It is this stark reality which prompted Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Edwin “Kuya Gob” Jubahib to direct a review of the Provincial Ordinance No. 2014-002 otherwise known as the Davao del Norte Investments and Incentives Code of 2014 that took place late March of this year, at the PDRRMD Operation Center in the Provincial Capitol Compound.

The said provincial ordinance has underwent a rigid scrutiny from the Technical Working Group that was created by the Governor, by virtue of the issued Executive Order No. 09, series of 2021. The group is composed of key provincial offices and representatives from the academe and the business sector.

The Investments and Incentives Code is the program policy of the Provincial Government that embodies the investment and incentives schemes to attract the influx of local and foreign investors, and provide a more auspicious environment that allows the growth of industries, MSMEs, the utilization and value-adding of local resources, and promote the ingenuity of the local entrepreneurs. Its significance lies in its objective of enhancing the competitiveness of the local investment in the province’s local government units through appropriate local policies and programs, as well as to provide a blueprint guide in the formulation of their respective local investments and incentives code (LIIC).

The last time that the LIIC 2014 has been reviewed in revised was way back December 2019.

Present during the meeting were the members and representatives of the TWG, headed by Provincial Planning Officer Mr. Nelson F. Plata, Assistant Provincial Administrator for Operations Engr. Maria Hazel C. Zafra, and Davao del Norte Local Economic and Investment Promotion Officer Ms. Joevynar M. Miedes.

Meanwhile, the result of the review and revision will be presented to the Provincial Investment Board for its resolution. The TWG is mindful that the road to success is never easy. But with the audacity of Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Edwin “Kuya Gob” Jubahib, and the potent workforce of the provincial government, the mounting challenges are managed in order to keep pace with, and adapt to the complexities of the inevitable change.

CARAGA LGUs PAY A VISIT TO DNIPC ON EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION

A group of government employees from various national and local government units paid a brief visit to Tagum City local government offices including the Tagum City Economic Enterprises Office and the Davao del Norte Investment and Promotion Center (DNIPC), during their educational tour just recently.

The group is comprised of government personnel from the Butuan City Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion Office (CTIIPO), Caraga State University, City Agriculture Office of Butuan, and other government agencies from Caraga.

During a courtesy call with Davao del Norte Local Economic and Investment and Promotion Officer (LEIPO) Ms. Joevynar M. Miedes, the group was impressed with the way the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte has proactively instigated to address the primary problems brought about by the Covid19 pandemic in the province. One project, in particular, which inspired the visitors is the DavNor Kaagapay Project, a food security program designed to combat hunger and unemployment during the onslaught of the pandemic.

The mechanism of DavNor Kaagapay Project, according to the LEIPO of Butuan City who is one of the guests, is something which they do not have in their LGU. Davao del Norte provincial government distributes vegetable seedlings that included high value crops, as well as, free-range chicklets, to the partner-beneficiaries of the program for free. These partner-beneficiaries are those identified as severely affected by the crisis, and the commodities are being given as a means of livelihood. Their produce are then bought by the provincial government, which the latter will sell to the people of Davao del Norte at a price that is a bit lower than the prevailing market price. In the process, the partner-beneficiaries reap the fruits of their labor, ensuring food for their families, while the vegetables and poultry meat that they produced augment the food production system in the province and ensures food stability amidst the crisis.

Meanwhile during the courtesy visit, LGU Butuan has signified its intention to work out a collaborative venture between Butuan and the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte that would mutually promote both their locally-grown products. Both parties are hopeful that they would soon ink a deal in terms of promoting the trade and investment that would be beneficial to their respective localities.

Fascinated by the different locally-made products and freshly-picked fruits and vegetables being displayed at the Pasalubong Shop, inside the Davao del Norte Investment and Promotion Center (DNIPC), the excursionists satisfied their cravings by purchasing different kinds of goods before leaving late in the afternoon.
