Program/Activity:

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES


MANDATES
The Provincial Engineer’s Office is the implementing arm of the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte in terms of infrastructure. The Provincial Engineer’s Office is mandated to undertake the following;
a) The planning of vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water system, flood control and other related projects that needs engineering expertise;
b) The design, construction and maintenance of provincial roads and bridges, farm to market roads and other major projects funded by local, national and foreign assisted;
c) Initiate, review, recommend, advise, administer and provide changes in policies, objectives, plans, programs, techniques, procedures and practices in infrastructure development and public works in general of the concerned local government unit;
d)    Exercise technical supervision to all engineering offices of component cities and municipalities and performs other duties & functions as maybe prescribed by law ordinance.


SECTORAL OUTCOMES

Provincial Roads & Bridges and Farm to Market Road:
1. Improved and maintained Provincial Roads and Bridges accessible to public schools, public health and other social goods and services;
2. Increased in economic growth;
3. Economical, fast, safe & reliable mobility of Dabaonon’s services & goods;

Public Infrastructures:
1. Construction/Repair/Improvement of various government infrastructure projects:
1.1 Improved the delivery of goods and social services for public use;
1.2 Provided a venue for effective social and medical services;
1.3 Enhanced living condition of constituency through quality infrastructure facilities;
1.4 Provided a venue for sports development.

2. Rural Electrification:
2.1 Enhance education through extended study hours of students and teachers because of improve learning conditions and facilities such as Lights, computers, communication facilities;
2.2 Improved disaster prevention facilities such as radios, transmitters, television and other communication equipment that channels information from one place to another;
2.3 Improved health care facilities such as refrigeration of vaccines and other medicines at far flung barangay health centers and other health facilities;

3. Disaster Risk Reduction
3.1 Improve rehabilitation and mitigation projects that protect lives and Properties against calamities;
3.2 Increased awareness on disaster preparedness and emergency response;

4. Water System Projects:
4.1 Increased awareness on environmental issues related to water & Sanitation;
4.2 Provided households with potable water

Gender and Development:
1. Enhanced awareness on gender sensitivity issues;
2. Increased income of men and women participating in the Community Based Road Maintenance.


ORGANIZATIONAL OUTCOMES
1. Increased in number of and types of businesses operating in the areas, increase in tax collection; reduced of primary inputs;
2. Increased in agricultural production; improved quality of agricultural products; increased employment in agriculture and tourism industry;
3. Reduced travel time, vehicle maintenance cost and gasoline expense;
4. Properties and lives are protected against calamities through rehabilitation of disaster prone areas and improved mitigation infrastructure facilities;
5. Enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response by providing immediate equipment and personnel for disaster relief operations with zero casualties;
6. Developed government reforms to improve capacity development such as gender sensitivity awareness programs, improved methods, techniques & introduce best practices for infrastructure development and ensure sustainable maintenance;
7. Project Identification and POW preparation are gender sensitive.
