The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Davao del Norte recognized Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Trainees and LGUs for their contribution to the community as evident in the latter's economic gains during the 22nd TESDA Anniversary last 31 August 2016.

Among the thousands of beneficiaries, Ms. Margie H. Momo a graduate of Tech-Voc last 2012, is one of the Dabaonons whose life has been changed with the help of TESDA.

“TESDA is first step nako to become I am what today. From TESDA sa tech-voch ko ni-graduate and recently karon ni-proceed ko for another step para sa akong education. Siya ang nagtabang sa akoa to reach my goal and dreams in life [TESDA is my first step to become who I am today. From TESDA as a Tech-Voc graduate I recently proceeded to another step in my education],” says Ms. Momo in recognition of TESDA's role.

From being a trainee, Ms. Momo is now one of the trainors in the tourism sector particularly in Bartending NC2 and BS NC2 Categories at the Prestige Shool of Technology Inc., Babak, Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS).

Because of her success, she encouraged those who have limited access to education to send their children to TESDA. “Gina-encourage nako sila nga mo-eskwela ug TESDA because little by little, step-by-step ang TESDA kumbaga first step nimo siya para ma-achieved nimo ang imohang goal. So dili lang kay ingon nga TESDA for short courses of time na makahuman ka, dako gyod siya ug tabang kay mas daghan ug employment opportunity kung naa jud kay TESDA certificate [I encourage them to enroll at TESDA because little by little, step by step... TESDA serves as your first step to achieve your goal. It does not (just) mean TESDA for short courses, but it really helps open more employment opportunities],” encouraged Ms. Momo.

Apart from the individual trainees, the LGU of Panabo City received special recognition Kabalikat Award and Ms. Cherelle B. Espinosa received Best Community Training and Employment Coordinator (CTEC).

Despite the outstanding results, TESDA-DavNor continues to strengthen its campaign on providing access to quality education with practical application for all Dabaonons reaching even up to barangay level.

TESDA organized an annual survey to monitor and evaluate the results of its programs. “Yearly naga conduct kita’g impact development study. Unya base sa resulta, seven (7) out of ten (10) sa atong mga graduates nakatrabaho either wage employed or self-employed. Ug kadtong naka-trabaho nine (9) out ten (10) employers nakaingon pinaagi sa surbi nga kontento sila sa performance sa atong mga TESDA graduates [Yearly, we conduct impact development study. Based on the results, seven (7) out of ten (10) graduates were able to get employed either wage employed or self-employed. Those who were employed, nine (9) out of ten (10) employers expressed through the survey that they are satisfied with the performance of our TESDA graduates],” explained TESDA Davao del Norte Provincial Director Remegias Timonio.

With the establishment of Quality Management System, TESDA became ISO Certified 9001:2008 and got Level 1 in Philippine Quality Award. These prove that trainings being conducted meet the global standard.

Hence, the TESDA Provincial Director is determined to expanded the program's reach up to the barangay level.

“In support to the program of our President, our Secretary Guiling Mamondiong is now looking into strengthening, sustaining our programs up to the barangay level. So the theme: Malasakit at Pagbabago TESDA, Susi sa Kinabukasan. This is now no letting up. We have to extend delivery of our services even up to the most remote barangay in Davao del Norte, TESDA sa barangay,” expressed Dir. Timonio.

Amidst their success, the TESDA Director did not fail to thank its strong partners including the Provincial Government under Gov. Anthony del Rosario, two congressmen, the Local Executives and other agencies who in one way or another contributed to making TESDA number one (1) in skills development program.
