Davao del Norte – After a hiatus of 13 years, the Bb. DavNor beauty pageant returns to select a beautiful, confident and empowered lady, who will be Davao del Norte’s ambassadress of goodwill and development.
Eighteen pre-selected candidates representing the 11 local government candidates of the province are now vying for the Bb. DavNor 2017, which is among the major highlights of the 50thFounding Anniversary of the province.
The candidates went through rigorous screenings in their respective LGUs, besting other aspirants who tried their luck in having a shot at becoming a beauty queen.
Governor Anthony del Rosario said the resurrected pageant celebrates the Dabaonon women from all backgrounds.
“With this competition, we hope to inspire our beautiful and talented Dabaonon women to step out of their comfort zones, experience the opportunity to represent the Province and become the ambassadress of goodwill and development,” he said.
Most of this year’s exciting roster of candidates have experience in local beauty pageants, while others are degree holders and working professionals carving a niche in their respective fields.
The ladies stunned everyone with their charm and confidence onstage on their official presentation during the Capitol Monday Convocation last April 10. Soon, they had their hands full with a series of photo shoots and workshops that aim to enhance their capability in helping build the nation.
These include the Disaster Preparedness Workshop on April 21 and the Community Development Workshop on April 29, with Professor Angelito Manalili of the University of the Philippines’ College of Social Work & Community Development.
The wannabes will also have the opportunity to further develop their pageant skills through a first-rate beauty camp on May 12-13, 2017, top billed by Jonas Gaffud and Atty. Nad Bronce of the famous Aces & Queens, which is the creator of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and other world-class beauty queens like Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon, and Megan Young, among others.
The sweltering summer will be more blistering still as the candidates will hold their hot Tour DavNor caravan, which include some preliminary competitions, from May 15-26 around the LGUs of the Province.
Finally, the best among the best Dabaonon ladies will shine brightest during the grand coronation on June 28.
Prizes at stake include P200,000 for the winning Bb. DavNor 2017, while the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners up will receive P150,000, P100,000, P75,000 and P50,000, respectively. More cash prizes worth P80,000 are allotted for the minor and special awards, at the same time that the other non-winning candidates shall receive a consolation prize of P15,000 each.
