Ipahimutang sa Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) ang Operation Smile ug tumong niini nga himoon ang Davao del Norte ingong pinakaunang probinsya nga wala na unya’y bungi nga gitawag ug harelip, cleft lip, cleft palate sa English o “ngongo” sa tagalog.
Ang Operation Smile maoy usa ka tibuok kalibotan nga organisasyon nga naghimo ug medikal nga programa aron tabangan ang mga pasyente nga bungi ug ubang nadaot nga porma sa dagway pinaagi sa libreng pag-opera, libreng tambal ug bisan ang libreng speech therapy.
Sa miting uban ni gobernador Anthony del Rosario ug mga opisyales sa probinsya, matod ni Gian L. Trebol, Executive Director, nga dinhi sa Pilipinas sa kasamtangan ang Operation Smile adunay tulo ka Center nga naa sa Manila, Pampanga ug sa Davao City diha sa Brokenshire Hospital. Nagsugod sila sa ilang libreng operasyon niadtong 1982 ug nakaopera na kini ug sobra 35,000 ka mga bungi.
“Operation Smile . . . started in the Philippines 35 years ago. It is now a global organization of more than 60 countries all over the world . . . . . for the last 35 years in the Philippines, this had operated over 30,000 patients already. . . .This year we are hoping to do another 2,000 and that’s really way above our normal average target,” matod ni Mr. Gian L. “Very excited because we’re to open a Center in Tagum in the Davao Regional Medical Center. . . We’re here today to ask, to request to be part to the Operation Smile and help us basically find patients and refer them to our Center. . . we would launched Davao del Norte to be the first ever cleft-free province in the country. We have a Center, we have the medical team to be equipped with the resources, and with your help who has access to the mobility, kaya nating gawin ang Davao del Norte na cleft-free, o kung mayron man kasi genetics, ooperahan before two years old. Kasi pag lumaki sila kawawa naman, madadaanan nila yung social stigma na pinagtatawanan,” padayong pahayag ni director Trebol.
Sanglit nakit-an nga ang kapobrehon mao ang kasagarang babag nga maoperahan ang mga bungi, gipahayag ni Gobernador Anthony del Rosario nga andam ang probinsyal nga kagamhanan nga motabang pinaagi sa PHO, PSWDO, sa tulo ka district hospitals ug ubang departamento aron lang matabangan ang pasyente.
“May Philhealth program, may pondo tayo. . . Ang important ma-determine kung saan ang mga batang yan or the parents. . We already know that they come from the low-income family, so the problem there is money. So to address the surgical procedure we can probably cater for the purpose. . The other thing is to somewhat take care of the problems on distance, we have a district hospital in Kapalong, in Samal Island, in Carmen,” pasalig ni Gob Anthony alang sa tabang.
Alang sa taga Operation Smile buot nila nga masayo ang pag-opera sa mga bungi.
“More importantly, ang ngongo pag mag-umpisa nang magsalita, mahirap nang ayusin ang speech nila. . So kung maoperahan natin sila bago mag two years old, bago sila magsalita, mas malaki ang chance nila sa buhay to be productive . . so with the partnership with the provincial government, kaya natin to,” positibong panglantaw ni Direktor Trebol.
Ang programang Operation Smile suportado sab sa higante sa komunikasyon nga Smart nga adunay “mobile app” nga pwedeng ma-download ug mahimong ma-register ang mga bungi nga nagkinahanglang ug tabang.
