Matod ni DavNor Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) department head ug kasamtangang Presidente sa Mindanao cluster Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA) Dr. Anastacia Notarte, nga ang ilang plano nga Region-wide nahimong tibuok Mindanao tungod kay daghan ang nagka-interes nga moapil.
“This is the first time nga nagpahitabo mi ini kay felt-need gyod sa atong professional agriculturists nga kailangan gyod ug continuing development and particularly nowadays nga ang atoang concern more on food security and food safety. . . This is a Mindanao-wide with representatives coming from Region 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and the ARMM,” pasabot ni Dr. Notarte labot sa kombensyon nga may tema: Training Course on: Food Security and Safety Towards Global Competitiveness: Agriculturists’ Challenge.”
Dugang pasabot ni Dr. Notarte nga ang kombensyon magsilbing “reminder” sa dugay na nga mga agrikulturista ug tungod sab sa nagakabag-o nga mga teknolohiya sa panguma.
“They have already the basic idea but as time goes on, kailangan i-remind ug naa man pod uban mga kabag-ohan sa agrikultura because it is an evolving process nga kinahanglan pod mahibal-an sa atong mga Agricultural Extension Workers. . ug kabalo pod mi nga dili tanan has the opportunity to attend trainings every year. . mga technical person . .kailangan kita mas knowledgeable compared to our farmers aron maka-engganyo gyod nga mopadayon sila sa pagpanguma,” padayong pasabot sa Mindanao cluster PAA president.
Atol sa kombensyon giila sab sa mga agrikulturista ang dako kaayong hagit labot sa nagaka-menos nga interes sa panguma. Gikataho nga ang aberids nga edad sa mag-uuma maoy 57 anyos.
“One of the challenges natin, yung ageing farmers natin, tumatanda na. Tapos who will be the next farmers. Alam naman natin na agriculuture is the backbone of the economy. So what will happen kung wala nang farmer. That’s why we have this intervention, we have a lot of trainings, we have also this career guidance, nag-school-to-school kami convincing those highschool students na once they go to college they will take agriculture. Kasi mahirap na wala ng susunod sa ating ageing farmer,” matod ni Dante Esguerra, ang Center Director sa Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI.
Gawas sa mga trabahante sa gobyerno, nakigtambayayong sab ang mga agrikulturista sa pribadong sector sama sa TADECO ug Seed Works nga kompaniya.
